Shirley Jean Saeger Halliburton

May 12, 1936 — August 4, 2025

Shirley was born on May 12th, 1936, in Champaign Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Hiram and Nora Jackson, her first husband of many years Lloyd Saeger: her second husband, John Halliburton; and her daughter in law Susan Saeger.

Shirley is survived by her son Keith Saeger, her cherished dog, Ethan, who brought her so much joy and companionship.

Shirley spent her early years in Erie, Pennsylvania where she loved being with her friends and family. Shirley enjoyed roller skating growing up. When she met her husband Lloyd, they spent so many wonderful years together. They shared a deep passion for music, square dancing and exploring the world. They traveled extensively during his military service. She would talk about her adventures they experienced throughout his career. She especially loved their travels in Europe and Paris, stories of which she loved to share.

A woman of deep faith, Shirley found joy and peace in her relationship with God, one of her most treasured memories was being baptized alongside her husband Lloyd. Shirley was deeply loved and cared for by so many.

Special thanks go to the following: Eric Miller, for helping find The Pavillion and ensuring Shirley received excellent care. Bobby and Janie Wray, her devoted neighbors who looked after her with kindness and treated her like family. She loved Bobby like a son. Ms Marlene Davis, her faithful hairdresser, who brought Shirely such joy over the years-she was especially proud of her last perm a few weeks ago. The staff at the Pavillion in Smyrna, including nurses, caregivers, cooks, and fellow residents, for the love and compassion shown to Ms. Shirley. Dr. Dicorleto, and his team of nurses and staff, for their many years of dedicated care. The hospice team at the Pavillion, for their comfort, support and dignity in her final days.

As we write this tribute- Debbie Flowers and Hunter Hughes we will always hold dear the memories we made with Ms. Shirley. Her presence, warmth, and spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

Rest in Peace

Ms. Shirley will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery, beside her beloved husband Lloyd on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
