In Loving Memory of Gene Marlin

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alva Eugene Marlin who peacefully passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 13, 1952, in Franklin, TN. Gene lived a life defined by love, strength, faith, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a devoted member and elder at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully served his church family for many years. His relationship with Christ guided the way he lived, and he was known for his quiet strength, wisdom, compassion, and servant's heart. His faith was evident not only in what he believed but in the way he loved and cared for others. He found joy in life's simple moments and treasured the time spent with those he loved most.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and retired from Apcom Inc after 40 years of service. Above all else, Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His family was his greatest pride, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and compassion that will continue to live on through each of them.

He is survived by his wife, Diane of 52 years, his children Amanda (Jesse) Marlin Pilkinton and Jennifer (Trey) Marlin Lloyd, his cherished grandchildren William Pilkinton, Caroline Pilkinton, Rob Pilkinton, Camden Lloyd, Hattie Pilkinton, Ava Claire Lloyd, and Nan Pilkinton, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.Z. And Ava Marlin, his brothers, Robert and Jimmy Marlin, and sister, Eloise Hersh.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is at peace. His steadfast faith carried him throughout his life, and we rejoice in the promise that he is now whole and in the presence of his Savior.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Franklin Community of Faith Church, 506 Jordan Rd, Franklin, TN 37067.
