Cindy Elayne Smithson

Cindy Elayne Smithson, age 63, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at 7:38 p.m. at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee Surrounded by her loving family.

Cindy was born in Dunlap, Tennessee on September 29, 1962, to the late Larry Flynn and Judy Brewer. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 36 years, Walter Troy Smithson; children, Calli Jo (Clint) Bain, Trevor Bronc Smithson, Drake Benjamin Hamby, and Jesse Rope (Jessica) Smithson; mother-in-law, Marilyn Smithson, brother-in-law, Sammy (Sarah) Smithson, siblings, Dawn (Marvin) Woodside, David (Sarah) Flynn, and Amanda (Lewis) Koehler, niece, Ava Flynn, Step mother, Angela Flynn, grandchildren, Karter Bryant Smithson, Jax Lee Smithson, Jaysea Grace Smithson & Kalli Joanne Smithson and many cousins who adored her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bernice & Ila Brewer & Willis & Florence Flynn and nephew, Ty David Smithson.

Cindy’s family will forever cherish the memories they made with her and the love she shared with each of them. Her kindness, strength, and devotion to her family will remain in their hearts and continue to be remembered for generations to come.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home, 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia TN 38401 where a funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM. Burial to follow in Maury Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Smithson, Trevor Smithson, Clint Bain, David Flynn, Jacob Fuller & Lewis Koehler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Karter Smithson, Blake Pewitt, Kyle Forrest & Greg Meeks.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to the Cindy Smithson Memorial Fund, C/O Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services.
