Christopher A. Mitchell, (65), of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on June 28th, 2026 peacefully at home with his family.
Christopher was born at Fort Knox, Kentucky to Corwin and Anne Mitchell on January 2nd, 1961. He was an Alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University (B.S.) and University of Louisville (M.A.). He married Kim N. Cosker on June 11th, 1983 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent 20 years in the United States Army and retired a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a veteran of the first Gulf War. His commendations include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster and “V” device, among other awards and citations. Christopher was a board member for Service Dogs for America in Jud, North Dakota. He was a proud Kentucky Colonel, and recently honored as a Distinguished Alumni of the College of Justice, Safety and Military Science at Eastern Kentucky University for 2025-2026. In the 23 years that followed his distinguished military career, Christopher worked in various roles in the hospice and home health industry. Christopher and his wife Kim recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Those 43 years welcomed 3 boys, years of travel, and countless memories.
Christopher is preceded in death by Corwin A. Mitchell (father), Anne H. Mitchell (mother), and Susan G. Mitchell (sister). Christopher is survived by his wife Kim C. Mitchell (Cosker), sons Campbell (Bree) Mitchell, Cullen Mitchell, and Connor Mitchell. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. at a later date.
