Charles “Chuck” Tilley, age 80, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Chuck was born in Concord, North Carolina, on April 23, 1946 to the late Charles Edmond Tilley and Edna Earline Cook.
To many, Chuck was known as the “Man About Town,” but to his family he was Dad or Papa. Chuck was a trailblazer in the gospel and Contemporary Christian Music community. For more than four decades, he promoted countless concerts and festivals while launching both a management company and booking agency. He worked with some of the biggest names in Christian music, but what made him stand out was his willingness to take a chance on a breaking artist. Chuck had an instinct for talent, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a genuine desire to open doors for others. His influence can still be felt in the artists, careers, and people he helped along the way.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jan Carter Tilley; his daughters, Kim Reid and Krista Ruth (Toby); his brother, David Tilley (Angie); his sisters, Marsha Miskelly and Jane Jonas (Scott), his grandchildren, Dillon Reid, Madison Powell (Kyle), Sydney Hampton, Abbey DuBois (Finn), and Eli Ruth, and his great-grandchildren, Presley Powell and Beckett Powell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 11 AM - 1 PM at Conduit Church, 1642 Lewisburg Pike, Franklin, Tennessee, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1 PM - 2 PM. Carpooling is encouraged as parking is limit.
